AdSense for YouTube must be connected to your YouTube channel to enable monetization and be paid. In most countries, you are required to verify both your identity and your mailing address in your AdSense account.  Make sure your  Payee name and address  are correct in your AdSense account before you start the verification process. You will not be able to change the account Payee name after identity verification is completed. If you fail to complete verification by the deadline (45 days for identity verification and 4 months for address verification with a PIN ), monetization will be disabled and your AdSense account may be suspended. Note that if you use both AdSense for YouTube and AdSense for Content (ads on your own website), you only need to go through verification once. Updated Google Publisher Policies go into effect on February 16, 2025. The updated policy requires publishers to clearly disclose data collection, sharing and usage in connection with the use of "Google services", taking into account current privacy-enhancing technologies and range of devices where ads may display. If you use AdSense for Content, AdMob or Google Ad Manager, you will have to agree to and abide by the updated terms. AdSense announced two major changes they will be implementing next year. Moving from primarily pay-per-click to pay-per-impression Updating the revenue share structure Why make these changes?  This update will provide a more uniform way for paying publishers for their ad space across Google’s products and third-party platforms, helping them compare with other technology providers they use. ( source ) Note that the change to the revenue share will only affect AdSense for Content, not YouTube monetization or other AdSense products. Will this change affect AdSense earnings? If you monetize on YouTube, you have probably been frustrated that while you can view your estimated earnings in YouTube Studio, you need to sign in to AdSense directly to view your payments. And AdSense doesn't show estimated YouTube earnings. That means checking two different places for earning and payment details. YouTube just announced a helpful update. You can now view your payments in the YouTube Studio app.  Update May 2024: This is now available to creators whose earnings are not in US dollars (USD). Google is updating its Publisher Restrictions to make some exceptions for gameplay imagery in its shocking content policy. These changes go into effect on August 30. This policy is for AdSense, AdMob and Google Ad Manager publishers. Google Ads will not be served on content covered by Google Publisher Restrictions, but other advertisers may run ads on the content. But the content is likely to have fewer ads to display. What is the Google Publisher Restrictions Shocking Content Policy? Google Publisher Policy defines "Shocking content" as: Content that contains “gruesome, graphic, or disgusting accounts or imagery”. If you are having trouble finding the end-of-year tax documents for your AdSense or YouTube earnings, don't panic! If Google issued you a 1099-MISC, 1099-NEC, or 1042 form, you can find that in your AdSense account. For most of the United States, income taxes are due April 18. But even if your taxes aren't imminently due, you will want to have an official record of your total earnings and any taxes withheld last year.  Note that if you opted in to "go paperless", Google would not have mailed you a copy. If you are a YouTube Partner, and you received an email from Google Payments that your "payments account was canceled", don't panic!  Many YouTube Partners received an email that their "payments account [AdSense publisher ID] for Google AdSense was recently canceled."  Over the past few months, your AdSense account has split into two separate payment profiles .  There is an "AdSense" payments profile for AdSense for Content (on your own website), AdMob, and AdX.  And there is a separate "YouTube" payments profile for YouTube earnings If you only use AdSense for YouTube, your AdSense payments profile has become inactive, and so is being closed.  This does not affect your YouTube payment profile.  Clarification posted in the YouTube Help Community Clarification posted in the AdSense Help Community You will continue to receive your fin...

In response to Russia's current invasion of Ukraine, Google has temporarily suspended all advertising in Russia. And compliance with US sanctions means publisher products, including AdSense, Ad Mob, and Google Ad Manager, are no longer available in the so-called Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) and Luhansk People's Republic (LNR).  Update March 10, 2022:  Google is “ pausing the creation of new Russian accounts on AdSense, AdMob , and Google Ad Manager.” This includes signups for the YouTube Partner Program. Update March 30, 2022: Google Publisher Policy now prohibits monetization of content that "exploits, dismisses, or condones" the war in Ukraine. YouTube Partners must also follow AdSense policy. YouTube earnings and other AdSense earnings will have separate payments accounts starting in March 2022.  If you are a YouTube Partner you should have received an email from AdSense this week with the announcement.   Email from AdSense:  A new way to manage and view your YouTube earnings Do YouTube Partners need to make any changes?  No. Your YouTube earnings and payment information will still be available from your AdSense account.  Your current payment method and any custom payment threshold will automatically be applied to the new YouTube payment account. There is a new way to earn money from YouTube Shorts.  In May YouTube announced a $100 million fund to distribute among creators with popular Shorts through 2022. YouTube Shorts are under-60 second vertical videos, created using the Shorts video editor or uploaded directly.  Every month eligible creators can claim a YouTube Shorts bonus, based on the performance of their Shorts videos. The first round of bonuses will be next week. All YouTube Partners must now submit U.S. tax information in AdSense by May 31st, no matter what country they are in. If no tax information is submitted, a higher percentage of earnings from YouTube may be withheld. Last November, YouTube announced that there would be an update to the Terms of Service, Among the changes, all payments from YouTube are considered “royalties”. And that means that creators outside the U.S. “may be required to submit tax information in AdSense” and “may be subject to U.S. withholding taxes.” More information was promised. Plus there are links to find additional information and resources. AdSense will be retiring link ad units on March 10, 2021. Depending on how the link units on your site are configured, they will either be replaced automatically with display ad units, or will just be blank.  The reason?  This is to modernize our available ad formats, based on the feedback from users, publishers and advertisers. Going forward, we’ll be focussing on improving and developing other ad formats to help you grow. Now is the time to review the ad units on your website or blog.  If you have responsive  link ad units, they will be converted to AdSense display ads. You don't need to do anything unless you want to change the ad format.  If you have fixed  size link ad units, the ads will stop displaying.
