Earn YouTube Achievement Badges by Taking Quizzes, Joining Memberships, Commenting and more

🏆  YouTube now has achievement badges!

Two weeks ago YouTube announced a whole slew of new features, mostly aimed at viewers.

One of those new features is achievement badges, which you can earn by taking quizzes, commenting, being an early channel Member, taking courses and listening to music.

Note that the badges are currently only available in the Android and iOS apps, and not on YouTube on the web.

Here's a quick overview, with more details below.

How can you earn a YouTube Badge?

There are five ways to earn a badge:

  • Answer YouTube quiz questions correctly (you can get started by taking my weekly quiz!)
  • Be one of the first people to join a channel's Membership program
  • Complete a course on YouTube by watching all the course videos (find free and paid courses)
  • Have one of a select set of creators heart one of your comments (no, I don't know which creators)
  • Be a top listener for one of a select set of artists on YouTube Music (this may not be available if you mostly listen to "Made for Kids" music)
More badges may be added in the future.

How can you find your YouTube Badges?

When you earn a badge, you will get a notification from YouTube.

You can also find your badges in the YouTube app and the YouTube Music app.

In the YouTube app:

1. Sign in to the YouTube app on Android or iOS.

2. Tap YOU with your channel icon at bottom right.

3. Scroll down and tap Badges.

In the YouTube Music app, you can find your YouTube Music badges:

1. Sign in to the YouTube Music app on Android or iOS.

2. Tap your channel icon at top right.

3. Tap Badges.

How do you share your YouTube Badges?

Only you can see your YouTube Badges unless you share them.

To share a badge:

2. Tap the 3 dot menu icon on the top right of the badge.

3. Select Share or Post on your channel (posting to your channel is only available in the YouTube app).

4. If you select Share, you have two options: Save image and Share with other apps

You can see what the shared badge looks like above. And yes, I totally aced 10 quizzes.

How do you delete a YouTube Badge?

To delete a badge:

1. Open your Badges screen in the YouTube mobile app or YouTube Music app.

2. Tap the 3 dot menu icon on the top right of the badge.

3. Select Delete.

In the YouTube app:

1. Sign in to the YouTube app on Android or iOS.

2. Tap YOU with your channel icon at bottom right.

3. Scroll down and tap Badges.

4. Tap the 3 dot menu icon at the top right of the Badges screen.
