Easily create movies with the new YouTube Create app

The YouTube Create app is a new tool from YouTube that lets you easily create movies on your phone, tablet or Chromebook.

The app is currently in beta, is Android only, and available to creators in India, Singapore, US, UK, France, Germany, South Korea, and Indonesia.

This is a pretty full-featured video editing tool. Some highlights:

  • Use the app on your Android phone, tablet, or Chromebook (if you have Android apps installed). Note that it might be difficult to use on a Chromebook that does not have a touch screen.
  • While you can use the app on multiple devices, it does not sync across devices.
  • Make videos that are vertical, landscape or square.
  • Import images and videos that are on your device. It does not have import from Google Photos or Google Drive.
  • Video clips and images can be rotated, cropped and trimmed for length.
  • Add effects (similar to effects in the Shorts editor) and transitions.
  • Adjust brightness, contrast, hue, opacity and other elements on individual clips.
  • Overlay multiple clips, and add text, stickers, and GIFs.
  • Add royalty free music and sound effects from YouTube's Audio Library or import your own audio.
  • Add voiceover audio.
  • Adjust the volume of individual clips.
  • Use "Audio cleanup" to background noise from your audio.
  • Add automatic captions in English, Hindi or Spanish (with more languages to come).
  • Export video as 720p or 1080p to your device, or upload directly to YouTube.
  • No watermarks.

Here's a brief look of how it works (watch on YouTube). And yes, I created this video using the app!
