Get premium Meet, Calendar, Gmail, and Chat business features with Google Workspace Individual

If you use your personal Google account for business, you can add a Google Workspace Individual subscription for access to premium Google Workspace features. Unlike a Google Workspace business account, you don’t need to have your own domain or manage your own email.

Google Workspace Individual launched in June 2021, with a few premium Meet meeting and Google Calendar appointment features. Since then new premium features have been added for Meet, Gmail, Calendar, Docs and Chat.

It also comes with live (human) support.

And with this week’s announcement, Workspace Individual will also include 1 TB of storage to use across Drive, Gmail, Photos and the rest of your Google account.

You can also get some premium Google Meet meeting features with a Google One (2TB+) subscription in some countries. Which should you subscribe to?  Read on for details.

Read on for more details about the features included with Google Workspace Individual and Google One premium subscriptions.

How much does Google Workspace Individual cost?

There is a 14 day free trial period, so you can try out the features. But with this announcement, the price is going up.

The new price of $9.99 US per month goes into effect in November 2022. I switched to the $99.99 annual plan, which works out to $8.33 per month. I find that reasonable for the available features.

If you try it and it doesn't seem worth it to you, you cancel your Workspace Individual subscription. If you do that, you just go back to your regular free personal Google account features.

This is currently the same price as Google One with 2 TB storage.

Storage with Google Workspace Individual

Google Workspace Individual accounts will include 1 TB storage that can be used for Google Drive, Gmail, and Google Photos. This is in addition to the 15 GB of storage that comes with your Google account.

Google Workspace Individual subscribers should be getting an email with more information as it rolls out.

It isn’t clear if this will be shareable with a family group, like storage with a Google One subscription, or if this will add to an existing Google One subscription storage plan. (I did contact support, and they don’t know yet.)

Google Meet Premium Features with Google Workspace Individual

Google Workspace Individual subscribers have access to a number of premium features for Google Meet meetings:

More inclusive meetings

Improved video and audio quality
Note: some premium Meet features are also available with a Google One 2TB+ subscription in some countries. Compare the features available to different types of accounts.

Should you choose Google Workspace Individual or Google One Premium for Google Workspace features?

In some countries you can get advanced Google Workspace features on your personal Google account by  subscribing to Google One with at least 2 TB storage instead of Workspace Individual.

Google Workspace Individual and Google One include different features, so one may suit your needs better than the other.  Currently Google One Google Workspace benefits only includes Google Meet features.

As of this writing, both Workspace Individual and Google One with 2 TB storage are $9.99 per month or $99.99 per year in the United States.
